The Mountain Pygmy Possum occupies mountain summits at heights of between 1,500 and 2,228 metres, where there are rock screes and boulderfields. This species is normally connected with mountain plum-pine (Podocarpus lawrencei) heathland and neighboring snow capped neighborhoods, and is the main Australian warm blooded animal bound to elevated situations.
Mountain Pygmy possums are minor marsupials very little greater than mice. They have thick ash hide, a long prehensile tail, and agile feet for getting a handle on and climbing. They are nighttime and undercover.
Guys rest in marginally hotter areas and animate from hibernation before females. They hasten between stones looking for females for mating in October or November. The females convey their four children in a pocket until they are excessively substantial, then abandon them in the home for an alternate month until they are weaned.
